The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported that the female Persian leopard Achipse was released in the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve. The predator was born in 2021 from Filou and Shiva leopards received by the Caucasus leopard restoration center from the Swedish zoo.

At the moment, the brother of Achipse, Chilmas, is being prepared for release. It is planned to be released on the territory of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.

Before being released into their natural habitat, cats undergo a training program for life in the wild and "pass" a series of final exams. The test system includes an assessment of the hunting behavior of animals, as well as their reaction to humans and livestock.

According to the conclusion of the commission, Achipse and Chilmas are in excellent physical shape, and their hunting behavior is fully formed. The results of the examination tests showed a stable reaction of avoiding the person and the pet.

To release a leopard into the wild, experts must first lock it in an attached enclosure. After that, a satellite collar is put on the predator, which will allow scientists to track the movement of the leopard and monitor its condition in nature.
