On February 14, within the framework of the Sustainable Tourism Development Forum "Travel!", the session "The Far East is getting closer: ski tourism and active recreation" was held. The session was organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the ANO "Center for the Development of the Ski Industry and Tourist Territories".
About 120 people took part in the session, including representatives of the authorities, business and the expert community. Among the speakers were the Minister of Sports of the Kamchatka Territory Alexander Bondarenko, Deputy Director of the Investment Department of JSC "CRDV" Maria Badmatsyrenova, First Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Sakhalin Region Natalia Pakholkova and Director of the Center for Tourism Development of the "Center for Strategic Research" Foundation Elena Kravchenko. The discussion was moderated by the General Director of ANO "Center for the Development of the Ski Industry and Tourist Territories" Ilya Vinogradov.
At the session, experts discussed the development of winter tourism in the Far East. It was noted that the unique natural and climatic conditions of the region, such as snowy winters and a variety of mountain ranges, create excellent opportunities for ski resorts. Measures to preserve the environment with the increase in tourist flow, as well as the importance of infrastructure development and improving transport accessibility were also discussed.
Special attention was paid to the advantages of the Far East over traditional resorts, such as exclusivity and the absence of mass tourism. The integration of cultural and historical aspects of the region into the tourist experience, as well as international trends in ski tourism, also became key topics.
The prospects for industry growth, cooperation between business, government and tour operators, as well as the introduction of new technologies and sustainable solutions for the development of the region in the coming years were also discussed.
The session became an important platform for discussing the prospects for the development of active tourism in the Far East and strengthening its position as one of the key winter tourist destinations in Russia.
