Expedition "Reserved Russia: from Kola to Kamchatka" started in the Murmansk region

The expedition is carried out with the participation of Roszapovedtsentr, a well-known wildlife photographer, founder and first director of the Bryansk Forest reserve, an expert of the Roszapovedtsentr, Igor Shpilenok, is participating in it, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources said on its website.

“In total, the expedition plans to visit more than 40 federal and 10 regional protected areas from the Baltic to the Bering Sea. As a result, a photo story about outstanding people and veterans of the reserve system will be created. In addition, it is planned to organize master classes on shooting wildlife and working with photo archives for employees of reserves and national parks, ”Shpilenok is quoted by the Ministry of Natural Resources as saying.

The first specially protected natural area visited by the expedition members was the Pasvik Nature Reserve, where at that moment (September 6) the 4th Ornithological Festival was taking place.

Its guests learned about the feathered inhabitants of the Pasvik River, bird migration, as well as how and why the annual census of waterfowl is carried out. Ornithologist Evgeny Melnikov demonstrated the process of ringing birds, and also gave everyone the opportunity to participate in it.

Also, the guests of the festival participated in birdwatching, tried to catch birds with binoculars and monocles, listened to birds singing.
