An elephant has trampled to death a Saudi tourist at the Murchison Falls national park in Uganda, according to media reports.

The Independent reports that the tourist was killed on Tuesday at the popular tourist destination, leading to an investigation by authorities.

The tourist, named Ayman Sayed Elshahany, was said to have been on a safari game drive.

“They stopped along the way and the deceased went out of the car, an elephant charged at him, killed him on the spot,” said Bashir Hangi, a spokesman for Uganda Wildlife Authority.

The wildlife park’s officials are investigating the tourist’s death and establishing why the elephant charged at him.

Uganda has 10 national parks, 13 wildlife reserves and sanctuaries.
