The press service of the Russian Union of Tourism Industry reported, citing the President of the RST, Dmitry Gorin, that Iranian tourists are showing interest in Russia. However, for the most part, solo travelers and small groups do so far.

According to Gorin, the introduction of electronic visas would be a good incentive to increase the flow of tourists from Iran.

“Flights between Russia and Iran are now quite sufficient for the development of tourism, and it is visas that remain a significant deterrent. With any simplification of the visa regime, there is always an increase in flows. When a visa-free regime is introduced, the increase is usually at least 30%,” said the President of the PCT.

He noted that Iranians are active travelers. For this reason, the Iranian market is very important for Russian inbound tourism and its recovery.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov said that Russia expects to launch an electronic visa for tourists from Iran by the end of June. In the summer, an agreement between the Russian Federation and Iran on visa-free group trips, concluded in 2021, should also come into force.
