The press office of the Center for Strategic Developments, citing the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has reported a growing popularity of electronic visas among foreigners. In the first six months of this year, tourists from other countries issued 275,900 electronic visas to Russia, with 215,300 individuals already visiting the country using this document. These figures represent an approximately 40% increase compared to last year.

"Almost 64% of all electronic visas issued for travel to Russia were granted to citizens from countries classified by the Ministry of Economic Development as target nations for inbound tourism. These include China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, India, the UAE, and Oman," the statement noted.

More than 46% of the total visas were obtained by travelers from China. The share of citizens from Asia-Pacific countries rose to 77%, with 22% of these being residents of Middle Eastern countries. Nearly half of the electronic visas issued in 2024 were processed in May and June due to increased demand during the summer season.

The Center for Strategic Developments emphasized that the trends and quantity of electronic visas this year convincingly demonstrate the rising demand for this type of visa document among foreign tourists. In the future, there are plans to further familiarize international audiences with this method of entry procedures.
