The new criteria of the hospitality industry will allow the establishment of eco-hotels and boutique hotels near or inside architectural monuments, said Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism.
Speaking at ministerial debates during the 23rd General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) held recently in St. Petersburg, Russia, she mentioned that first innovative hotel is being built right in front of one of the temples in Aswan.
Dr. Rania Al-Mashat explained that the ministry had published new criteria for the hospitality industry, including boutique hotels, eco-hotels that are located in the historical landmarks and are being built now. She added that they welcome the startups in this area, such as the hotel which is being built in front of the temple and labeled eco hotel. She said the ministry would encourage the pilot eco-hotels to be launched in other districts of Egypt.
