Egypt is set to conduct a tourism promotion campaign to attract more Chinese tourists to the North African country, an official has said.
"The Chinese market is one of the important and promising tourist markets that the ministry seeks to attract…in the light of the ministry’s keen interest to diversify tourism markets to Egypt," Egyptian Tourism Minister Rania al-Mashat said in a statement posted by her ministry on Facebook.
The minister is expected to conduct several professional meetings with Chinese companies during her visit to the Asian country.
She said that her country had partnered with Ctrip China to implement a joint marketing campaign to promote Egypt to the Chinese.
Ctrip owns one of the most important e-Tourism booking sites in the world.
About 500 000 Chinese tourists visited Egypt in 2018.
Tourism accounts for 15% of Egypt’s GDP.
