The movement for an eco-friendly New Year's Eve is becoming increasingly popular in the Balkans. The main idea of the eco-holiday is to strive to reduce the carbon footprint at every stage of the New Year's party. Even special instructions have been developed leading to this goal.
Firstly, to create a festive atmosphere, it is best to purchase a natural Christmas tree grown in a container. After the New Year holidays, it is necessary to plant it in the nearest forest park, thus increasing the green protection of the planet. Artificial Christmas trees emit toxic substances that are dangerous to human health and pollute nature.
Secondly, it is better to use LED garlands to decorate a Christmas tree, as they are less energy-intensive.
Next, it is proposed to do without buying new fancy clothes: synthetic fibers, often used in modern fabrics, cause irreparable damage to the environment. Eco-activists urge to buy used clothes or use last year's outfits.
It is better to get to the place of the holiday by public transport, rather than by private car, in order to reduce the number of cars (respectively, and harmful emissions) on the roads.
The next call is not to give banal, often absolutely unnecessary things cluttering the planet for the New Year, but to collect impressions: interesting walks, trips to theaters or concerts.
Well, if it is absolutely impossible to do without a tangible present, then it is necessary to take care of packaging material made from recycled materials. By the way, it is better to make greeting cards yourself out of cardboard. Such a souvenir is quite suitable for a very popular hand made.
And, of course, the festive table, according to environmentalists, should be absolutely vegan. Such food leaves a much lower carbon footprint than traditional Balkan lamb on a spit.
And if suddenly there are guests who do not agree to eat the freshest wheat germ, then you should explain to them why it is necessary to give up everything that harms the environment. Perhaps such awareness will lead to a change in their minds. And then in the new year, the carbon footprint will become even smaller.
You can see the plant in the Dendrarium Park. Due to the fact that its flowers change color during the day, hibiscus is called the lotus tree or "crazy rose."
