The press service of Mospriroda announced the launch of the action "Affordable Housing for Every Bird". Its participants will not only build new "apartments" for birds, but also repair old ones. You can do this both on your own and by joining the environmental education events that will take place in natural areas and ecocenters of Mospriroda.
Housing is necessary for birds that are preparing to start families and have chicks. Some prefer to use tree hollows for this, while others settle in artificial nests.
Last year, 2,000 people joined the action. In total, about 400 artificial bird dwellings were hung.
Mospriroda noted that nesting sites need to be made correctly. They must be made from unplaned boards with a thickness of at least 2 cm, and it is better to paint dwellings with non-toxic acrylic paints in natural colors.
Experts recommend hanging houses in a quiet place on a tree trunk at a height of 4 meters. At the same time, there should be no branches near the front wall of the nesting box, as predators can climb along them.
Varieties of houses depend on the types of birds. There are birdhouses, titmouses, half-hollows, owl houses, shearers, wagtails, eggplants, houses for redstarts, pikas and others. They differ in size and shape.
You can bring the already made artificial nests to any Directorate of Natural Territories.
Participants discussed the boundary between nature and ecotourism, whether mass visits to unique areas can remain safe, the responsibilities of investors, and how to prepare tourists for visiting specially protected natural areas.
The head of state expressed confidence that the Forum will be held at a high level, and that its results will contribute to the development of tourism in Russia and the expansion of humanitarian and business ties.
