The number of tourist trips across the country is expected to more than double by 2030, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said at the session "Journey to the East: Opportunities for Investors and Tourists" at the EEF.
"We predict that by 2030 the number of trips per year in our country will exceed 140 million," he said.
As the Deputy Prime Minister noted, now this figure is 60 million.
In his opinion, the tourism sector in Russia has "giant potential", it is a kind of "future Klondike".
For the development of the industry, it is necessary to create infrastructure, help investors, remove bureaucracy, make project management transparent, and their quick payback, Chernyshenko believes.
One of the problems in the field of tourism today, he called the lack of supply: "there is" a huge unsatisfied demand".
“In our country, relative to 2019, 32 million people did not go on vacation abroad - these are those who stayed inside the country. This is the demand that needs to be met,” Chernyshenko stressed.
The forecast for doubling the domestic tourist flow by 2030 was also announced at the session by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov. He also said that, according to the model developed by the government for the development of the tourism industry until 2030, pre-Covid indicators will be exceeded by 2025.
