According to Cyprus' Ministry of Tourism, the country welcomed over 4 million tourists from January to December 2024, a 5% increase compared to the same period last year.

"Therefore, 2024 has already become a new baseline year for Cyprus," announced Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Kumis.

Kumis believes that Cyprus has reached its maximum potential for further growth in summer tourism. "The employment level during this period, especially in coastal areas, is already very high," the deputy minister said. In the coming year, the development of the tourism industry should focus on creating alternative offerings: sports, historical-cultural, and health tourism.

It is also necessary to increase the quality and cost of services. According to Kostas Kumis, this will contribute to increasing the share of tourism in the gross domestic product, which in 2024 was 13.5%.

The main goal for 2025 is to further increase the contribution of the tourism industry to the country's economy, the deputy minister believes.
