The Croatian government, taking care of the health and working conditions of trade workers, adopted a law prohibiting the opening of shops on weekends and holidays. According to Croatian Prime Minister Andrei Plenkovic, the new working regime should "contribute to the protection of workers' rights and their family life'.
Nowadays, the ecology of labor has become a popular science, the main task of which is to organize a safe production environment, as well as to improve the living conditions of both the workers themselves and the whole society.
However, in fact, good intentions sometimes go sideways. So, on the first weekend of August, residents of Croatia were left without milk, bread and other basic foodstuffs. In an effort to replenish stocks, people rushed to those few points where trade is allowed as an exception.
Queues lined up to shops at train stations and gas stations. But there was not enough bread for everyone there, because according to the new law, bakers were enjoying family life at that time. As a result, already at 11 o'clock on Saturday there was no bread left anywhere. Croats spent two days off on a gluten-free diet, and bakery workers suffered losses.
But it seems that now the main income of gas stations and train stations in Croatia will be the sale of bread and milk. Which, of course, will contribute to their sustainable and effective development.
