The authorities of Corsica, the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean, decided to restrict tourists' access to the attractions of this French region.

According to the French media, those wishing to visit Corsica, which is called the "Island of Beauty", will now have to book in advance a visit to some of the most popular places among tourists.

We are talking about the Restonica Valley, the Lavezzi Islands and the Peak de Bavella. Their visits are subject to booking in order to preserve the environment and biodiversity of these places, which are threatened by excessive tourism.

"It is unacceptable that the ecological situation in Corsica deteriorates due to the abundant and uncontrolled attendance," said Guy Armane, president of the Environmental Protection Agency of Corsica, which was visited by 2.5 million tourists annually before the COVID-19 pandemic.
