The portal "Interfax-tourism" reported with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan that the region already has experience in holding dragon boat competitions, including among corporate teams.
Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic Oleg Korobchenko said that the Dragon Boat Festival in China is timed to coincide with the beginning of summer. In Tatarstan, there is also a June national holiday - the Day of the end of spring field work.
“We will get such a Chinese Sabantuy,” Korobchenko said.
He noted that the inhabitants of the republic will be able to get acquainted with the culture and traditions of the PRC.
It is expected that within the framework of the holiday not only spectacular dragon boat races will take place. The event will be complemented by Chinese music, cuisine and souvenirs.
The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the main holidays in China. It is over 2000 years old and is on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
