In the tract botanists from Moscow State University found plants that scientists had not previously encountered in the mountain range. In total, they have registered up to 360 species of flora, writes the Arctic Development Project Office.
Botanists examined the valley of the lake and the Duluk River located in the north of the plateau.
"We have identified 316 plant species, but we expect that after determining the herbarium there will be about 340-360. It can already be said that plant species not previously found on the Putorana plateau and the territory of the reserve grow here," said Elena Pospelova, senior researcher at Moscow State University.
The plants found in the area of Lake Duluk are characteristic of the more southern and eastern regions of Siberia – the lower reaches of the Lena, Indigirka and Baikal.
"It is difficult to say whether our findings are related to climate warming. But the lengthening of the season probably affected the life of plants. Average temperatures have hardly changed, but the growing season lasts longer," the scientist said.
You can see the plant in the Dendrarium Park. Due to the fact that its flowers change color during the day, hibiscus is called the lotus tree or "crazy rose."
