Nine animals were delivered to Bashkiria from Belarus. The population size in Belovezhskaya Pushcha makes it possible to transfer animals to other reserves without harm. After passing the quarantine, the bison will be settled in the Muradymovskoe Gorge Natural Park. The state of the arrived herd is under constant control. This was reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia on its website.

“In total, 18 bison from Belarus will be resettled in Bashkortostan. Scientists will strive to create a local population of these animals. In general, in Russia, our common goal is to restore the bison population within the boundaries of the historical range, and to multiply their number in the wild. In six years, at least 2,750 individuals of this Red Book animal should live in Russia, ”said Alexander Kozlov, head of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, whose words are quoted in the message.

Bison is under state protection. To date, it has been possible to form a single group of 800 individuals in the Bryansk, Kaluga, Orel and Tula regions and other smaller groups in the European part of Russia.
