Eco-transport is increasingly becoming fashionable in the Balkans. In recent years, many types of “green” transport have appeared here. Among the various options for Segways, Segwheels and scooters, classic two-wheeled bicycles hold the palm. They were chosen by both residents of small Balkan towns and the population of megacities.

However, such popularity did not pass the attention of city thieves. Bicycle thieves are a headache for the police today: every day, reports of thefts of this vehicle fill up the incident reports. The situation in Serbia has become particularly aggravated. Here in the city of Novi Sad, the administrative center of Vojvodina, a bicycle maniac has developed, depriving more than a dozen residents of their means of transportation. Fortunately, local law enforcement officers managed to identify him and detain him. An 18-year-old city resident turned out to be a serial bicycle thief.

A 23-year-old bicycle lover from Vrbas also lived in a similar way. He is accused of seven criminal counts involving the use of special means. This burglar liked to cut the locking cables. For some reason, he ignored the unattached bicycles standing nearby. The strange thief surprised the police not only with his love for cables, but also with the fact that upon arrest, all 7 stolen bicycles were found in the criminal’s house.

Bicycles stolen from the streets of Vienna were also found in the apartment of another swindler. This case was already dealt with by the Austrian police, but together with Serbian employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It turned out that a resident of Bosnia and Herzegovina living in the Austrian capital had established a profitable business: he not only stole high-quality European products, but also transported them to neighboring Serbia for resale. The cunning Bosnian has several dozen crimes on his record. This is what he confessed to during the trial. By the way, the Bosnian stole the bicycles found in the apartment on the day of his arrest. It took him less than an hour to do this. In this case, the modern thief turned out to be more successful than the hero of the famous film Vittorio de Sico.
