The German Free Voters Party resumed its autumn congress held on the spectacular AlpspiX observation deck located in the Southern Bavaria Alps with the topic of promoting ecological tourism in Bavaria. ”If we are talking about putting tourism on the rails of linking people to nature, I would not be able to name a better place in this country than this magnificent mountain range,” stated Florian Streibl, Chief of the Party’s local faction, in his welcome address.
”Bavaria ranks first in tourism among all the lands of Germany having welcomed nearly 40 million visitors from all around the world in the previous year,” said Hubert Aiwanger, Head of the Bavarian Department for Tourism. ”Quite an impressive number that clearly shows the importance of developing this branch for the region’s economy.” ”I am very glad that there is an actual boom of tourism and gastronomy in Bavaria right now. However, you need to keep it in mind that in matters of nature tourism it is especially important to correctly combine the preservation of Bavaria’s natural beauties with the annual flow of large amounts of visitors,” Aiwanger added. It would be reasonable to target the promotional criteria on binding ecological peculiarities with social aspects : the focus is on man and nature, while quality dominates over quantity.
Manfred Eibl, the Party’s speaker in the regional Parliament, was ready to support the Head of Department for Tourism, ”We must improve interaction with visitors in order to keep the highly popular holiday zones from cracking under the pressure of great numbers of people and vehicles. Thus, adjustments in the fields of logistics and transport have to be made.” This can be made possible by introducing a special kind of phone apps. Improving the transport system is an important step, although a better visitor regulation requires more personnel: ”With the struggle for Bavaria’s nature going on we are also in the process of employing rangers in the national parks and further developing this concept,” added Mr. Eibl.
