Balkan Tourism Forum Concludes in Sofia

The "Balkan Awards of Tourism Industry 2024" held in the Bulgarian capital summed up the results of the Balkan tourism sector. The event was attended by tourism industry leaders, regional heads, and hospitality industry leaders in the region.

The organizers of the forum noted the increased interest in tourism in the Balkans from both Europeans and Asians. The Balkans attract with its natural beauty, historical landmarks, and ethnographic diversity. Guests of the peninsula also appreciate the region's affordable prices against a backdrop of decent service.

The best tourist destinations in the Balkans were awarded golden statuettes. Among the winners in the hospitality sector were locations in Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.

The Iskar-Panega Geopark in the Bulgarian municipality of Lukovit was recognized as the best ecotourism destination. The archaeological complex "Valley of the Thracian Kings" in Kazanlak, Bulgaria, won the award for the "best tourist attraction." The Kosovo Tourism Union (UTK) was named the best tourism association in the Balkans. North Macedonia's Arkan Kerim received an award as an outstanding tourism ambassador in the Balkans. North Macedonia also took home the prize for the best mountain spa hotel - "Magnolia Resort & SPA" in Ponikve. Greece was awarded the prize for the best beach hotel chain - MITSIS.

In total, 36 Balkan tourist locations were awarded golden statuettes at the end of 2024.
