The Altai wintering holiday will take place on December 3 at the Belokurikha balneological resort, a three-hour drive from Barnaul.
It opens the winter tourist season in the region. As reported on the website of the event, the holiday is timed to coincide with the arrival of whooper swans to the lake of the reserve in the Soviet district.
“Every year at the end of November-beginning of December, more than 1,000 swans arrive in Altai. In early March, the birds leave the lake. Winter is the only time when you can watch them,” the organizers of the holiday say.
Part of the Lebediny reserve is an excursion object - there is an observation deck, bridges for bird watching, a platform for photographers.
This is the only place in Russia where whooper swans come to spend the winter, the organizers say.
In addition to bird watching, the holiday program includes folk festivals, winter sports competitions, an exhibition-fair of artisans and competitions, quests.
Belokurikha will feature several outdoor sports facilities for children and adults of all ages.
And besides, at the festival it is planned to set a Russian record for the most massive tea drinking with Altai honey.
