Hotel group Accor has announced a strategic partnership with Indian conglomerate InterGlobe to significantly expand its presence in India. The goal of the collaboration is to increase the number of hotels under Accor brands in the country to 300 by 2030.
Through this partnership, Accor plans to leverage unprecedented growth potential in one of the world's most promising tourism markets. The group currently operates 71 hotels in India and plans to open another 40. The new initiative aims to accelerate development across all market segments, from economy to luxury.
Accor and InterGlobe will combine their existing hotel assets in India within an autonomous and integrated organization that will be responsible for the development and management of all Accor brands in the country, including Ennismore brands. As part of the alliance, Accor and InterGlobe are also investing in Treebo, an Indian budget hotel chain with 800 hotels in 120 cities.
Treebo will become a strategic partner for the development of the Ibis and Mercure brands, providing Accor with access to its distribution technologies to capture a larger share of the independent hotel market. InterGlobe, a major player in the Indian travel industry and the main shareholder of IndiGo airline, will be a key partner for Accor in achieving its ambitious goals in the rapidly growing Indian market.
