According to modern estimates, the bellflower (Campanula sclerophylla) is a locally found relict North Colchis endemic in critical condition. It is a national treasure of the country.
In the Akhtsu gorge, according to observations in August 2021, only about a hundred specimens of this relict plant were counted. Therefore, the entire Akhtsu gorge is included in a specially protected zone, the Sochi National Park reported.
