Such an instruction was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting of the State Council Presidium.
He noted that the Kayakent resort area in Soviet times was one of the best health resorts in the country.
“Its thermal springs and therapeutic mud have unique characteristics, and we have the opportunity to create a center on this natural base that is not inferior to the most famous foreign resorts,” the president said.
He stressed that it is important to continue the development of tourist and recreational complexes in the North Caucasus and to revive the Kayakent resort area at a modern level.
The head of state also considers it necessary to work out the issues of creating large federal resorts on the coasts of the Black Sea, the Caspian, Azov and Baltic Seas, as well as the Far Eastern Primorye. At the same time, they should be all-season, have a modern, comfortable infrastructure, so that up to ten million people can relax there every year.
“Along with these major projects, special attention should be paid to the restoration of national, regional, local tourist sites and trails, and this work should be approached comprehensively, equipping such hiking trails with the necessary infrastructure: places for recreation, equipment rental, hospitality centers,” Putin said.
