A new resident of the special economic zone "Baikal Gavan" is going to create a suburban premium-class multifunctional complex Cosmos Collection Baikal Resort in Buryatia, on the eastern coast of the lake. A cooperation agreement for the implementation of the project was signed by the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (KRDV) and Cosmos Hotel Baikal.
“A 5-star natural health resort under the Cosmos Collection brand will occupy 382 hectares on the Bezymyannaya Bay site of the Baikalskaya Gavan Special Economic Zone. The facility, designed for 360 rooms, will have access to the coastline with a length of more than 4 km. The volume of investments will be about 11 billion rubles,” the KRDV reports on its website.
The construction is expected to take place in three stages.
“First, a hotel with 100 rooms, 14 duplexes and 12 cottages will be introduced, then a geothermal spa, a congress center and houses with lounge areas and related recreational infrastructure. The third stage involves the construction of glampings, an additional 20 duplexes and 25 cottages, as well as 4 bath complexes,” the corporation noted.
The first 100 rooms are expected to be commissioned in 2024 and the entire hotel in the third quarter of 2027.
According to the KRDV, the concept of the new eco-resort is based on the synergy of recreational tourism and oriental medicine.
“The eastern coast of Lake Baikal is a place of power. In all opinion polls, Baikal is one of the three places where every tourist wants to visit in order to touch its unique virgin nature. This is a trend for many years. In addition, the active development of the Far East gives us the opportunity to count on the fact that the resort will be in demand among guests,” said Yury Molodchenko, General Director of Cosmos Hotel Baikal LLC, quoted by KRDV.
According to him, today the design is already being completed, and in the spring it is planned to start construction and installation work.
