The program of the cruise to Baikal, which will take place from July 24 to 31, was first developed with the participation of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and prepared by specialists from specially protected natural areas. The route will cover the entire Baikal from south to north. Roszapovedtsentr reported this on its website.
"For 8 days and 7 nights, travelers will visit four specially protected areas of federal significance, located along the World Natural Heritage Site - Lake Baikal - in two regions of our country - the Irkutsk Region and the Republic of Buryatia," the report says.
Travelers will sail on one of the largest cruise ships plying the lake - "Empire".
"A comfortable vessel with a capacity of 50 people will allow you to combine an educational vacation on board the ship with a rich excursion program," the Roszapovedtsentr noted.
The cruise will start in Irkutsk. After visiting the Baikal Museum in the village of Listvyanka and getting to know the crew of the ship, the tourists will undergo a safety briefing, and the ship will set off on its voyage.
Acquaintance with protected areas will begin with the Pribaikalsky National Park (Irkutsk Region). On the second day of the cruise, guests will arrive on Olkhon Island, go on an excursion to the village of Khuzhir and take a walk to the sacred rock Shamanka. They will also visit the Olkhon Visitor Information Center, which was opened this year and is dedicated to the nature of Lake Baikal and the history of the island, and then they will take part in the Places of Power car tour to Cape Khoboy.
On the third day of the journey, the ship will arrive at the Small Ushkany Islands.
“Here, in the Republic of Buryatia, on the territory of the Zabaikalsky National Park, there is the largest seal rookery on Baikal. The excursion program of the day will end with a visit to the Zmeinaya Bay, located in the Chivyrkuisky Bay, and bathing in hot springs,” the report says.
The excursionists will spend the fourth day of the tour in the Frolikha nature reserve, where they will walk along the seven-kilometer ecological trail to Lake Frolikha.
Tourists will remember the fifth day of the cruise by visiting the Barguzinsky Biosphere Reserve (Buryatia), the very first specially protected area in our country. The protected area was established in 1916 with the aim of preserving and restoring the population of the Barguzin sable. After a lecture about the historical and environmental significance of these places, as well as an excursion with the inspector of the reserve, the travelers will go by boat to the Surkhayte area.
On the last three days of the cruise, tourists will again find themselves in the Pribaikalsky National Park - there they will visit healing springs, after which they will go on an excursion to the Small Sea Strait on about. Wow. Then the guests will proceed to Peschanaya and Babushka bays, where they will get acquainted with examples of reforestation and make an excursion to the Observation Rock.
“The tour “The Protected Necklace of Baikal” will end in the village of Listvyanka, the cruise ship will cover a total of more than 1215 km of the way,” said the Roszapovedtsentr.
