24.5 million tourists visited Moscow in 2023

In 2023, 24.5 million tourists visited Moscow, the volume of tourist consumption reached 1.3 trillion. rubles, which exceeds the figure of the pre-pandemic 2019, said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

"The city budget will receive 178 billion rubles. With these funds, it is possible to build about 70 schools or 16 km of new metro lines," he wrote on his blog.

The majority of tourists who visited the capital are from Russian regions, and 2.3 million from foreign countries visited Moscow, mainly guests from China, Turkey, India and Iran.

Sobyanin also said that 4.3 million tourists visited the capital during these winter holidays - almost twice as many as in 2023. On the third, fourth and fifth of January, the occupancy rate of hotel rooms in the center of Moscow was 90-100%.

Moscow festivals are especially popular among the guests of the city, in particular, "Journey to Christmas", "Estates of Moscow. Winter" and "Moscow Tea party".
