A record number of overnight stays were registered in 2019 in Brussels – about 9.4 million against about 8.5 million nights in the previous year. These data were published by the Bureau of tourism Visit.Brussels.

Experts explain the growing interest of tourists in the capital of Belgium, including the large number of exhibitions and congresses held here, which additionally provided an increase in overnight stays by 11%.

"This shows the balance between business and classic tourism," commented Patrick Bontinck, CEO of Visit.Brussels. According to him, the occupancy rate of hotels in Brussels currently averages 80% on weekdays and 65% on weekends.

Presented by Visit.Brussels data on the number of overnight stays in the Belgian capital in 2019 applies to all means of accommodation for tourists, including the Airbnb private housing rental service.
