The ice-resistant platform "North Pole" has gone on another voyage to the Arctic again. The platform has left the port of St. Petersburg and is heading for Murmansk, where the North Pole 42 drifting polar expedition will begin, the press service of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute reports.

Scientists will conduct dozens of scientific studies. They will study climate change, lay routes along the Northern Sea Route and ensure the hydrometeorological safety of Russia.

The ice-resistant platform is equipped with advanced equipment and allows to immerse instruments to any depth in the Arctic Ocean, explore near space, as well as use satellites and unmanned vehicles, hibiny.ru reports.
