The press service of the "Clean Arctic" project reported that the expedition members have already arrived in Krasnoyarsk, from where they will travel to the northernmost continental point of Eurasia.
The "Great Arctic Expedition" will be truly exploratory. Volunteers, led by traveler Matvey Shparo, will assess the scale of waste pollution in the area. Decommissioned equipment, iron fuel barrels, and metal have remained here since Soviet times.
"Schoolchildren as part of a group of ecologists and teachers, as well as experienced instructors, will spend about a week on the expedition. In each location where the help of Clean Arctic volunteers is required, they will set up an identification flag. Subsequently, a new team of volunteers will be sent there to help Cape Chelyuskin become cleaner," the statement said.
Moving along the soldered ice of the Laptev Sea, the expedition members will also study the history of the discoverers of these places. The route is laid along geographical points associated with the history of the Great Northern Expedition, which took place 280 years ago.
