Director of the national park Alexander Kirilov told the TASS news agency that the memorial expedition is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the discovery of the archipelago. It will take place on the Eldorado sailing ship.

The expedition members plan to visit key points associated with the discovery of Franz Josef Land. Among them are Gallia Island, Cape Tegetthof, Wilchek Island and Tikhaya Bay.

The base of the Russian Arctic National Park is located in the Tikhaya Bay of Hooker Island. It is located on the territory of the Tikhaya Bay polar station, which was opened in 1929.
