The Republic of Yakutia is implementing various measures of state support for the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North, including the protection of the native habitat and traditional economic activities, the press service of the head and government of the region reported.

At the initiative of Aysen Nikolaev, the head of the republic, the Young Reindeer Herder program is being implemented, according to which young reindeer herders are entitled to a social payment for the purchase or construction of housing. This year, the amount of payments has been increased to two million rubles.

As part of the "Children of the Arctic" project, children from 13 Arctic regions of Yakutia, studying from fifth to eighth grade, have special quotas to go on vacation and recovery. The subsidy pays costs for recreation on the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, on the coasts of the Azov, Caspian and Japanese seas, as well as in the Republic of Adygea, at the resorts of the Caucasian Mineral Waters.

According to the Ministry for the Development of the Arctic and the Affairs of the peoples of the North of Yakutia, for the period from 2019 to 2023, non-profit organizations of indigenous small peoples of the North were provided with subsidies on a competitive basis in the amount of more than 86 million rubles for the implementation of 76 projects to support the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North and to strengthen the material and technical base of 121 communities, yk24.ru reports.
