The cruise program is planned to be launched in 2028.

"Special programs for tourists are supposed to include cruises between the seaports of Murmansk and Vladivostok with visits to the islands along the routes. We are focusing on the domestic network of tourist routes," said Sergey Pylin, Director General of FSUE Rosmorport.

In addition to the icebreakers "Captain Dranitsyn" and "Captain Khlebnikov", the flagship of the icebreaker fleet of the enterprise – the icebreaker "Viktor Chernomyrdin" can be used on cruise flights. Last summer it received the status of a passenger ship and can take 93 passengers on board. This ship is capable of overcoming ice with a thickness of 2 to 3 meters.

So far, the only icebreaker that regularly departs for cruise flights from Murmansk is the vessel of FSUE Atomflot "50 Years of Victory". Navigation takes place during the summer months.

The main tourist product is the cruise "On an icebreaker to the top of the planet", its cost as of the first half of 2023 is more than 2.5 million rubles per person for 13 days.

Rosmorport believes that it is premature to determine the pricing policy in the organization of cruises. However, it is already known that everyone will be able to participate in the tours, regardless of citizenship.

The development of projects for the modernization of icebreakers, which are planned to be used for the organization of cruise flights, is scheduled to be completed in the 3-4 quarter of 2023, the work will be carried out from 2025 to 2027, goarctic.ru reports.
