Older volunteers will take part in the "Clean Arctic" project this year, who, together with young people, will clean up the Arctic territory from man-made waste.

"Every spring, before the start of the next field season, we receive applications for participation in the general cleaning of the Arctic from hundreds of people who are over 50 and even over 60 years old. Previously, we had to politely refuse such people, guided by the age limit. But this year it was decided that the first so–called "silver" volunteers will appear in the volunteer detachments," said Anastasia Faterina, coordinator of volunteer groups of the public environmental project "Clean Arctic".
Each older volunteer will be required to undergo a thorough health check and rigorous testing of physical capabilities.

Until now, most of the volunteers were young people aged 25, and the oldest participants of the action were no more than 35.

"Clean Arctic" is a project to clean up the Arctic territory, the idea of which belongs to the captain of the nuclear icebreaker "50 years of Victory" Dmitry Lobusov and the captain of the icebreaker, Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation Gennady Antokhin.

The financial partner of "Clean Arctic" is Norilsk Nickel, whose participation in the project was marked by a letter of thanks from the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
