The polar branch of Norilsk Nickel conducted comprehensive exercises to localize and eliminate the accident at the water transport operation site on the Norilsk River.
According to Andrey Magerov, Director of the Department of Civil Defense, Emergency Prevention and Fire Safety of the Polar Branch of Norilsk Nickel, oil spill exercises are conducted every three years with the involvement of a commission consisting of representatives of federal agencies and executive authorities.
According to the legend of this year's exercises, as a result of an accident involving a tanker truck, oil products were spilled onto asphalt, dirt pavement and into the waters of the Norilsk River. The spill area was 1,545 square meters.
"The main assessment of the readiness of emergency services is carried out according to the main parameter: the time of localization of the oil spill, which, according to the requirements of the legislation, should not exceed four hours on the water body, six hours on the soil," Magerov said.
According to him, all the services coped with the elimination of the accident in due time, and the training will help to act more clearly and coherently if one day a real threat arises.
