Nikolay Doronin became a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation

Nikolay Doronin, Chairman of the PODA’s (Project Office for the Development of the Arctic) Board, joined the Public Council under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation and became Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Public Control over the Implementation of the “Ecology” national project.

Earlier, Doronin was the author of a part of the report made by the Public Council under the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia on the implementation of the “Ecology” national project from 2019 to 2021. It showed the evaluation of the effectiveness of the national project by the expert community and the general Russian public’s perception. The report was presented on March 24, 2022, it is also posted on the Public Council’s website.

The new membership of the Public Council under the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia was approved by the order signed by the Head of the Department Alexander Kozlov in early July 2022. It included 34 experts nominated by non-profit and public organizations, as well as by professional associations.

At the first meeting of the Council held on July 8 in Moscow, Alexander Zakondyrin was elected the Chairman of the Council, he previously headed the Council and was nominated by the Association of Developers of Environmental Technologies and Environmental Initiatives. Sergey Alekseyev became Deputy Chairman (nominated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation), Ruslan Gubaidullin (‘Clean Country’ Association), Ivan Eryomin (Institute for Strategic Communications and Social Projects), and Svetlana Lipina (‘Clean Seas’ International Environmental Foundation).

The Public Council is an advisory and consultative body for public control over the activities of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, its decisions are of advisory nature.

Konstantin Tsyganov, First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, said that “the joint work of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Public Council, as before, implies openness, clarity, meaningfulness, and priority in the implementation of the tasks that are of particular importance for people, namely, the environmental management and ecology issues that have a direct effect on the quality of living of the Russians... the “Ecology” project is the central project implemented within the framework of the activities of the Public Council under the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia,” he noted.
