Given the geographical features of Crimea, the peninsula has a real chance of winning the battle for the tourist flow during the pandemic, said the head of the Directorate for the Management of the Federal Target Program Andrey Nikitchenko.
"There is a real battle is unfolding in the area, in which Turkey, Croatia, Greece and the Kuban have already joined, and the region that can create filters that are effective for the authorities and are tourist-friendly in the form of medical tests will win it,” the expert said. “Geographical isolation of Crimea gives it a chance to win this "war" by creating a territory free of COVID.»
The authorities of the Krasnodar Territory, adjacent to the Crimea, have already announced that the sanatorium complex of the region will start accepting vacationers from June 1, while the facilities with medical licenses will be the first to open.
Meanwhile, the head of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sergei Aksyonov, assessing the prospects of opening sanatoriums and hotels here, said that «an outbreak of coronavirus in 1% of accommodation facilities in Crimea could become an insoluble problem for the region’s healthcare system».
"The issue is being discussed, and until the end of the week we will have an understanding about the possibility or impossibility of opening resort facilities. This will be primarily due to the possibility and necessity of Rospotrebnadzor to weaken the requirements," Aksyonov added.
