The first ever Russia-Africa summit, which concludes today in Sochi, will help create new connections between African countries and Russia, according to the official website of the Rosa Khutor ski resort, the host of the event.
Vladimir Putin, addressing the forum participants, said that Russia and Africa are developing very fruitful relations.

“Last year, we saw a growth in trade by 14 percent to 7.7 bn dollars. We are developing large projects, such as a nuclear power station, an industrial zone in Egypt. We are actively working in these areas, we mean to invest $ 190 million in infrastructure development and raise up to seven billion dollars,’’ said the President of the Russian Federation.

In turn, Egyptian President Abdelfattah Sisi noted the advantages of a bilateral alliance between Russia and Africa, "in particular in the field of development, as well as in financing infrastructure projects on the African continent, including the energy sector and road construction."

The countries of the African continent are ready to cooperate with Russia in many areas, in particular, in the field of innovative developments in water treatment.

During the summit Vladimir Putin held a number of bilateral meetings.

The guests of the summit were leaders and heads of 43 African countries. In total, the event is attended by representatives of all 54 countries of the African continent and more than 5 thousand people.

Following the results of the summit, the participants will sign a declaration with stated agreed approaches on Russian-African cooperation and deep engagement with the major international and national stakeholders.
