About 50 km of highways have been repaired in the Medvezhegorsky district of Karelia this year, including the overland route leading to the Kizhi Museum-Reserve. This was announced by the official portal of the republic.

"Bringing it into a normative state allows for year-round transport accessibility of the Kizhi Museum-Reserve for tourists. This will contribute to the construction of hotel complexes, campgrounds and cafes along the route, parking lots, as well as gas stations for cars and boats on the territory of Zaonezhye," the message says.

According to the Concept of development of the Kizhi State Historical, Architectural and Ethnographic Museum-Reserve for 2017-2027, it is planned to increase the number of its visitors from 230 thousand to 300 thousand people per year.

As the portal notes, the 107.4 km long Medvezhegorsk – Tolvuya – Velikaya Guba highway is not only part of the route to the cultural heritage site of the peoples of Russia and UNESCO, but also provides high-quality transport accessibility with a regional center for local residents. In the north it adjoins the federal highway A-119 Vologda – Medvezhegorsk, and in the south it adjoins the previously built highway Velikaya Guba – Oyatevshchyna.

The repair work was carried out thanks to the national project "Safe high-quality roads".
