The presentation "Business participation in biodiversity conservation: the results of the second stage of the scientific expedition of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Norilsk Nickel" will be held on February 20 at 14:30 at the scientific and educational center "Reserved Embassy" of Zaryadye Park (Varvarka str., 6, p. 1,). The event is organized by the Public Chamber Commission of Russia (OP RF) on Ecology and Sustainable Development.

The scientific group is ready to present to the public the results of the study, which was devoted to a deeper study of the company's impact on biodiversity: correcting impact zones, studying the behavior of heavy metals in rock dumps, using molecular genetic and phytochemical methods to diagnose biodiversity, clarifying indicators for calculating the integrated indicator of ecosystem status (IPSE). In addition, the experts will also present further plans on the necessary steps to address the challenges of biodiversity conservation in these regions.

The Big scientific expedition to study biodiversity, conducted by the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Mining and Metallurgical Company Norilsk Nickel, covered three regions of Norilsk Nickel's presence - the Trans—Baikal and Krasnoyarsk Territories, and the Murmansk Region. As a result of this work, scientists were able to assess the current state of animal and plant biodiversity and identified negative factors and threats from industrial facilities. The expedition was continued in 2022-2023.

Live video broadcasting on the resources of the OP of the Russian Federation, Norilsk Nickel, Zaryadye Park will be available for the public.

The participants are scientists and experts who took part in a Large scientific expedition, representatives of non—profit and business organizations, public chambers, national UN units, relevant environmental ministries and departments, including the project office of the federal project "Conservation of biological Diversity and development of ecological Tourism" of the national project "Ecology", the section on Arctic issues and biodiversity conservation at the Scientific and Technical Council of Rosprirodnadzor, as well as employees of the Norilsk Nickel company, residents of the regions of its presence.

Moderators are Valery Yakhontov, Deputy Chairman of the Commission of the OP of the Russian Federation, Elena Sharoikina, Chairman of the National Committee of the United Nations Decade for Ecosystem Restoration.
