The Department of "Blockchain" of the Physics and Technology School of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science (FPMI) of MIPT opens the first set of postgraduate courses on the subject of distributed registries. The postgraduate course will be the first state educational program in Russia, which is completely devoted to the blockchain direction.

Blockchain-based solutions are used to track the carbon footprint, the movement of goods and cargo, tokenization, authentication of medicines, as well as to simplify many other business processes, both at the business level and at the state level.
One of the main factors that influenced the decision to launch a postgraduate course was the growing demand from the Russian business community, which needs highly qualified specialists in the field of blockchain.

"The industrial partners of our department offer students complex applied and research tasks in the field of blockchain, located at the junction of several disciplines: mathematics, computer science, economics and even sociology. To solve many of them, specialists of a very high level are needed. It is precisely such personnel capable of performing complex research, both fundamental and applied, that our graduate school will prepare," comments Vladimir Gorgadze, head of the Department of blockchain at MIPT, co–founder of the tokenization platform Atomyze and the IT company Newity.

The Master's Degree in Blockchain at the MIPT Institute of Technology, opened in 2019 in partnership with Norilsk Nickel, became the first higher education curriculum in Russia on distributed registry technologies. During the existence of the department, the annual enrollment for the program has been increased from 5 to 20 people, partnerships have been established with companies using blockchain technologies in their projects. In 2022, the Master's degree in blockchain became the first Russian state curriculum that began issuing non-interchangeable NFT tokens for master's degrees. In 2023, three graduates of the program received red diplomas.

Distributed registry technologies provide transparency, immutability, information security assurance and traceability, which increases the value of their application.
