The long-awaited event was awaited for 11 months, as long as pregnancy lasts in the inhabitants of the Peruvian Andes. Thanks to the care of veterinarians, Cria, a girl, was born on January 28.

- Alpaca mom and newborn are doing well. There are several indicators of Cria's health. Within half an hour, the baby must stand up on its own, and within two hours learn to eat its mother's milk. The first-born girl coped well with all this, - said Irina Chaikina, the operational director of the alpaca park "Pacha Mama".

Like the mother of the alpaca Caramel, the newborn's coat is very soft with a creamy shade. From the first day, Cria was dressed in a comfortable jacket.

- Considering that alpacas are inhabitants of the mountains, their crias can tolerate temperatures up to -10 degrees Celsius. While little Cria is in a special stall with her mother, she will be fed breast milk for a month. Soon we will transfer the newborn to a special nursery, she will begin to go outside and explore the world around her. Only then will it be possible to get to know Cria in person," Irina Chaikina explained.

The alpaca park "Pacha Mama" at the Rosa Khutor resort opened in August 2023. It was created at over 1000 meters. Today there are 21 alpacas living here.

How the first cria, born in the mountains of Sochi, grows can be seen in the telegram channel of the park https://t.me/alpaka_sochi . The name of the newborn has not yet been invented. They plan to choose it with the help of subscribers of the social networks "Pacha Mama". You can chat, feed and hug alpacas live every day from 10:00 to 19:00. Free shuttles will help you get to the Pacha Mama Park, they run from the Rosa Priyut site in the Mountain Olympic Village.
