The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) welcomed over 9,000 Chinese entrepreneurs on agricultural products and technology from all over China attending a one-day conference at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok.

Jointly presiding over the welcome ceremony were Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, General Chotianantpreecha Saphiran Special Expert of the Royal Thai Army, Former commander of the Anti-aircraft Artillery Brigade and other dignitaries.

Ms. Thapanee said, “With Thailand now granting visa exemption to Chinese tourists, this conference reflects the market’s confidence in Thailand. The hosting of 9,000 participants under one roof also showcases Thailand’s ability to host large business events and strengthens the country’s position as the preferred destination for Chinese travelers.”

TAT expects the conference to shine a spotlight on the business events or MICE – Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition – industry while helping to spread income to relevant sectors across the length and breadth of Thailand.

Thailand has waived the tourist visa for passport holders of the People’s Republic of China from 25 September 2023 to 29 February 2024. During the period, Chinese tourists will be granted a temporary visa exemption for a 30-day stay for tourism in Thailand.
