This will cover half of the salmon shortage in the country. Today it is about 100 thousand tons per year and is compensated by imports.

- Within 15 years, with the right course of development, our city will be able to reach an annual production of 50 thousand tons and close half of the existing deficit in Russia. As part of the strategy for the development of the agro-industrial complex, we will provide comprehensive assistance to create a full-cycle fishery production in our city, - said the head of Sochi, Alexei Kopaygorodsky.

Currently, five enterprises are engaged in fisheries activities in Sochi. On the farm, located in the waters of the sea, at a distance of five kilometers from the coast in the Khosta region, 650 tons of red fish were grown last year. Experts note that the main problem is the lack of fry. They are imported to Sochi from North Ossetia and produced at the Trout farm in the Adler district of the city. However, in order to ensure stable production of large volumes of fish products, it is planned to build several additional fry farms with a total capacity of about four thousand tons per year and a coastal fish processing plant.
