Murmansk resident Oleg Ponomarev received land under the Hectare in the Arctic program next to the highway to Teriberka, where he plans to organize glamping and a year-round program for outdoor enthusiasts. He spoke about the project to the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, subordinate to the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East.

“Next year we are planning to start implementing the plan. A recreation area, paths and domed houses will be equipped. The key principle is not to harm nature, because the vegetation of the tundra is recovering very slowly,” Ponomarev was quoted as saying on the ministry’s website.

He noted that it is planned to make panoramic windows in the houses for tourists. Currently, the entrepreneur chooses equipment, negotiates with construction companies and is looking for partners to organize active programs for vacationers.

In summer, it is planned to arrange trekking trips and excursions to the Barents Sea coast, and in winter there will be dog sledding trips, snowmobiling and hunting for the northern lights.

When choosing a free "hectare", the main criteria for an entrepreneur were the availability of infrastructure and proximity to wildlife. Such a place was found on the Serebryanskoye highway, which leads to the village of Teriberka, which has become popular with tourists.

The "Hectare in the Arctic" program was launched on August 1, 2021. In the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, a free hectare can be obtained on the territory of the Murmansk Region, in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, as well as in the municipal districts of the Arkhangelsk Region, the Republic of Komi and Karelia.

For the first six months, "hectares" in the Arctic are given to local residents. And from February 1, 2022 - to all citizens, as well as participants in the state program for the voluntary resettlement of compatriots living abroad, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East notes.
