Moscow holds the V.I.Vernadsky National Ecological Prize

An environmental award was held in Moscow - the Vernadsky National Ecological Award.

The competition was held in nine categories: Science for Ecology, Innovative Eco-Efficient Technologies in Industry and Energy, Ecology in Agriculture. Ecological products, Environmental education for sustainable development, City ecology, Water ecology, Environment in the mirror of mass media, Social and environmental initiatives, Children and youth national environmental award.

As Eco Tourism Expert came to know, the leader in the number of winners this year was the nomination “Social and Environmental Initiatives”, in which the largest number of bright projects was presented. According to the organizers, although the environmental projects submitted for the competition have a different focus, they are all aimed at solving local and global environmental problems. The jury immediately identified eight winners in it.

Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk LLC presented the project “Adult Man on a Bicycle”. The company managed to increase the number of cyclists among Tomsk residents so much that now the city authorities are considering providing additional bike paths to new areas of the city.

Gazprom Transgaz Volgograd LLC presented the project “Day of Common Actions - Clean Shores”, which is aimed at the rehabilitation of natural sites and complexes. This spring, participants cleared the shores of 15 water bodies, cleared 12 kilometers of coastlines from garbage, and removed 68 cubic meters of waste.

Gazprom Transgaz Moscow received an award for the Reforestation project in the Tula Region. The company drew attention to the problem of changing the resource and ecological potential of forests. Under the project, Gazprom Transgaz Moscow planted 90,000 seedlings of oak, linden, maple and pine.

TANECO JSC presented the edition of ecological fairy tales in Braille for blind children and the visually challenged.

Vernadsky Scholarship holder, Mikhail Antonov launched the ecological and educational quest «We lead environmentally friendly lives.»

The project of the Irkutsk National Research Technical University, which offers an environmentally friendly technology for the disposal of colloidal sediments of the Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill, attracted increased attention.

The younger generation is actively involved in the project. Egor Murzyakov, a student at the State Budgetary Educational Establishment of Secondary School of the village of Chelno-Vershiny, impressed the jury with his project “Natural Monuments of the Chelno-Vershinsky District: Environmental Education for Schoolchildren”. Egor admitted that a couple of years ago his classmates could not name a single specially protected area in their area, and today everyone knows about them, moreover, excursions to these places have become popular in the area.

The project of the volunteer group of the school No. 493 of the Pushkin district of St. Petersburg “Ecological Petersburg” did not leave anyone indifferent. The students noted that they are doing a lot of work to sort garbage and are convinced that saving the planet is only possible if each of us makes an effort to do this.

The winners in the nomination “Environmental Education for Sustainable Development” were: “Eco-Culture Festival”, “ECOVECTOR”, “What to do with garbage”, “Chilpyran - environmental education in the regions of Udmurtia”.

For the first time this year, departments and companies were awarded for a successful start in the implementation of the Ecology national project - the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources, PJSC Gazprom, the Ministry of Ecology and Nature Management of the Moscow Region, UC RUSAL, and Federal State Unitary Enterprise RosRAO.

PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel was noted for a successful start in the implementation of the Ecology national project.

Traditionally, the Vernadsky Award notes significant projects in the field of environmental protection and environmental safety, energy and resource conservation, the development of new technologies in industry and energy, the introduction of the best available technologies, the formation of an environmental culture and the development of environmental education in the interests of sustainable development based on the ideas of Academician V.I. . Vernadsky.

This year, the organizing committee received more than 100 applications from 56 regions of the Russian Federation.

The National Environmental Award was established in 2003. In 2013, it was named after the outstanding thinker and academician V.I. Vernadsky to honor the 150th anniversary of the scientist.

The purpose of the award is to popularize the projects in the field of environmental protection and environmental safety, energy and resource conservation, the development of new technologies in industry and energy, the introduction of the best available technologies, the formation of environmental culture and the development of environmental education based on the ideas of Academician V.I. Vernadsky.
