The head of the region Vladimir Solodov supported the representatives of the environmental community of the peninsula who came forward with this initiative, the format and composition of the council will be determined in the near future.
The main activities of the council will be the implementation of the region’s environmental policy, environmental safety and environmental protection. Also, its participants will analyze the existing problems and develop proposals for their elimination. It is noteworthy that the desire of environmentalists to create such an advisory body was posted on social networks, and not sent to the regional administration. The post was noticed and appreciated. According to the interim regional Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Alexei Kumarkov, the regional authorities gladly supported the initiators.
“This is a great idea that will enhance mutual feedback on the issues of preserving our unique nature that excite our citizens,” he said.
“As far as I know, this practice exists in some other regions, for example, in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.”
