Journalist Igor Svinarenko dies at 65

Publicist, writer, publisher of Russia's first men's magazine Medved, author of EcoTourism Expert Igor Svinarenko passed away today after a long illness. This was reported on social networks by his relatives.

Igor Svinarenko has repeatedly emphasized that, being a native of the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region, he began his career with local publications - he was a correspondent for the newspapers Makeevsky Stroitor, Makeevsky Rabochiy, Komsomolets Donbassa.

In 1980 he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University. He worked as a columnist for the Komsomolskaya Pravda and Kommersant newspapers, was the editor-in-chief of the Archipelago and Domovoi magazines, and wrote columns for Gazeta.Ru.

Svinarenko has written several brilliant books, including the Vodka Box series, in which he presented edited recordings of conversations with entrepreneur Alfred Koch.

As the daughter of Igor Svinarenko Lyudmila clarified to RBC, the funeral of the deceased will take place in the Church of the Deposition of the Robe in Moscow on May 12 at 12:00. “The funeral will take place on the same day in the Kaluga region, in the village of Mikheevo,” she added.
