Russia is the only country in the world that uses zero-discharge technology in offshore oil production, the head of the Committee on ecology and environmental protection of the State Duma Vladimir Burmatov said. "Russia is the only country today that applies zero-discharge technology in offshore oil production. Does anyone know about this? And we are branded by Poland, the Baltic States, we are branded by our neighbors in the Caspian sea, who are engaged in offshore production, "he said, speaking in Moscow at the VIII environmental forum "Responsibility of business to the future. Technology on the side of society and nature".

According to Burmatov, in Russia "we have long passed the stage when the interests of the environment were in opposition to the interests of business." "Now we can have only one vector of development. This vector of development is "green", - said the head of the Duma Committee.

The Forum serves as a venue for developing the best solutions aiming to ensure industrial and environmental safety, sharing best practices among manufacturing companies in managing environmental safety systems, environmental conservation, and implementing corporate environmental projects.

The Forum is attended by representatives of the authorities, both federal and those from provincial governments of Northern Russian regions, experts, researchers, as well as representatives of NGOs and manufacturing companies operating in the High North. International environmental NGOs are also invited to take part in this Forum.
