This civil society-led initiative brings together high-level speakers from different sectors and backgrounds to discuss progress and challenges in achieving the UN Global Forest Goals by 2030. This event aims to achieve international goals by bringing to the fore multilateral organizations, academia, businesses, NGOs and indigenous communities who can inspire others with their determination and influence.

Among speakers are Dr. Susan Gardner, Director of UNEP’s Ecosystems Division; Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace; Ambassador Nick Bridge, UK Foreign Secretary’s Special Representative for Climate Change; Dr. Musonda Mumba, Director of the UNDP’s Rome Center for Sustainable Development and former chair of the GPFLR; Virginijus Sinkevicius, European Commissioner for the Environment; Ester Asin, Director of WWF’s European Policy Office; Pr. Lee White, Gabon’s Minister of Forests, Oceans, Environment and Climate Change; Dr. Juliette Biao Koudenoukpo, Director of Secretariat of the UN Forum on Forests and Former Benin’s Minister for the Environment; Stéphane Hallaire, Founder & CEO of Reforest’Action; Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Founder of AFPAT and SDG Advocate; Pascal Soriot, CEO of AstraZeneca; H.R.H. Charles, Prince of Wales and others.

The purpose of the summit is to follow the global trends in the field of forestry. Forests must be high on the agenda to stop deforestation, boost reforestation, promote sustainable forest management and secure financial commitment to all of these goals. Thus, in order to achieve these goals, it is necessary to launch regular monitoring containing accurate data.

The Global Forest Summit is an annual event dedicated to assessing the state of the world's forests.

The second edition of the event takes place in Brussels.

The Global Forest Summit is an event jointly organized and funded by Reforest'Action and the Open Diplomacy Institute. Reforest'Action is a B Corp certified company whose mission is to preserve and restore the world's forests in response to the twin crisis of climate and biodiversity. The Open Diplomacy Institute is a French think-tank working on global governance of sustainability. It aims at accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
